Guide to the Virtuoso Best of the Best Hotel Collection
Issue #27-23 of a weekly family travel newsletter from The Family Travel Guy takes a look at the Virtuoso 'Best of the Best' Hotel Collection
Over the past month, I have discussed tips on how to optimize your hotel stays through travel advisor only programs that can offer great benefits and value-added amenities when staying at Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt hotel brands.

But what if you want to stay at a different brand that may not be covered by one of these programs?
This week, I’ll discuss Virtuoso Travel, specifically the Virtuoso Best of the Best Hotel Collection, in greater detail and how it can add tremendous value for your next luxury hotel stay (when paying a cash rate and not using points)
What Is Virtuoso Travel?
Virtuoso Travel is a leading global network of agencies specializing in luxury and experiential travel, with more than 20,000 advisors. Virtuoso partners with over 2,000+ of the world’s best companies such as hotels, cruise lines, tour operators, and more.
Virtuoso Travel Advisors use their personal connections and firsthand expertise to craft bespoke trips for clients, including unique experiences, special values, complimentary perks, VIP treatment and rare access.
In a nutshell, Virtuoso is a travel consortium that is the largest and most luxurious of them all.
A travel consortium refers to an organization made up of independent travel agents and agencies that have joined together to increase their buying power, commissions, and amenities they are able to provide clients. Consortiums are able to use their networks to negotiate with hotels, resorts, cruise lines, and other suppliers on behalf of their agent members. The resulting "preferred supplier" relationship benefits agency clients in the form of special amenities, upgrades, and special promotions not available to the general public. Think Costco Travel, but geared more towards upper mid-scale and luxury hotel stays and experiences.
What are Virtuoso Travel Benefits?
Virtuoso Travel benefits for hotels in their collection include room upgrades, complimentary breakfast, hotel credits and special Virtuoso only promotions (non-public offers).
Examples of Virtuoso Amenities include:
Room upgrades, subject to availability
Daily breakfast for two
Food & beverage credit or Hotel/Resort credit or Spa credit
Early check-in/late checkout, subject to availability
Special Virtuoso Promotions or Experiences
What Hotel Brands are Included in the Virtuoso Travel Hotel Collection?
The beauty of the Virtuoso Travel Hotel Collection is that is brand agnostic, meaning it features the Best of the Best from Four Seasons, Intercontinental, Hyatt luxury brands, Marriott luxury brands and many more hotel companies and brands.
For example, let’s say you are planning a trip to Maui and are looking to maximize the value you receive from your hotel stay. There are lots of options to choose from and include hotels that are a part of Marriott STARS, Hyatt Prive, Hilton Impresario, as well as included in the Virtuoso Best of the Best - so how do you decide when amenities and benefits can be pretty similar to each other?
The following hotels are a part of the Virtuoso Hotel Collection in Maui:
Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort
Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea
Fairmont Kea Lani
The Ritz Carlton Maui, Kapalua
Montage Kapalua Bay
You can see there are various luxury hotel brands included above and some also are a part of Hyatt Prive and Marriott STARS. If you have a certain hotel in mind or if there is a special Virtuoso offer (4th night free, extra resort credit, etc) that can help make your decision easier, as they are all great hotels.
How Do You Book a Hotel in the Virtuoso Travel Hotel Collection?
Virtuoso hotels can only be booked with affiliated travel advisors to gain access to Virtuoso Travel amenities and benefits, as well as any special offers.
As a Virtuoso Travel Advisor, The Family Travel Guy can book Virtuoso hotels and works directly with dedicated on-property contacts and communicates your unique travel preferences, special requests, and any other things that may need coordinating - so you can relax and enjoy your trip!
“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” – Bill Bryson
