How to Optimize Your Next Flight with TSA PreCheck, Clear, Global Entry, and Mobile Passport
Issue #10-23 features a look at the best ways to optimize your time through airline security with TSA PreCheck, Clear, Global Entry, and Mobile Passport
I covered some of the best ways to book flights last week, Optimize Your Next Flight: How I Book my Flights to Save Time, Money and Unlock Benefits, but there are many ways to optimize air travel (especially helpful when traveling as a family) that can include saving time at security checkpoints, mobile apps, having airline loyalty status, saving money on bag fees, and the list goes on.
One of the ways I like to optimize my air travel is knowing which programs to sign up for to spare ourselves from having to wait in long security lines at the airport, whether departing or on arrival back into the United States, when traveling internationally.
There are a few programs that can help and include TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, Mobile Passport and Clear. These programs are all expedited screening programs that help travelers get through airport security checkpoints much faster.
The main differences between all of these programs are that TSA PreCheck and Clear help you save you time when departing for flights, while Global Entry and Mobile Passport help save you time when returning to the United States from an international destination.
If you fly even once or twice a year, I would highly recommend getting TSA PreCheck, at a minimum, as the time savings and expedited screening is well worth the cost. For $78, you’ll get access to faster security screening with TSA PreCheck that is valid for five years. Most premium credit cards offer fee credits and you can even sign up for it at Staples now - there really is no excuse not to have TSA PreCheck at a minimum.
We have been in situations where we have arrived for our flight late or the airport is just really busy with long lines and being able to quickly go through security screening has saved us from missing our flights on many occasions.

All you need is love a passport.
