Holiday Gift Guide: Travel Edition
Issue #9 features a look at the best holiday gifts for travelers from items I rely on and would recommend adding to your holiday wishlist
Welcome to my holiday travel gift guide!
In this holiday gift guide, I’ll be sharing some ideas for travel-themed gifts that are perfect for the holiday season. Whether you're looking for gifts for a jet-setting friend or family member, or for someone who is planning a special trip in the future, I’ve got you covered with a curated selection of travel-themed gifts that has something for everyone on your list.
My holiday gift guide includes a round-up of my top recommendations for travel from items I personally use and rely on when I’m out traveling with my family:
Travel backpack: I just picked up the Wandrd Prvke Lite backpack during a Black Friday sale and am looking forward to testing it out on our next trip. Lowepro and Peak Design bags are also my go-to bags for packing all of my travel gear.
Wireless headphones: Apple AirPods are perfect for traveling and easy to pack. I pair them with the Anker 610 Magnetic Phone Grip for easy movie viewing when flying.
Travel adapter (for Apple users): The Apple World Travel Adapter Kit includes a set of seven AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world, each laser-etched with the regions they are compatible with. For world travelers, this is the perfect kit to ensure power connectivity in most countries you may travel to.
Portable charger: Anker Portable Charger (plug-in) or for Apple users, I really like the Anker 622 Magnetic Battery, as well as Apple’s MagSafe Battery Pack for on-the go charging.
Best Overall Charger: The MagSafe Duo Charger for Apple products is my preferred option for keeping my iPhone, Apple Watch and headphones charged when traveling.
Best on-the-go Camera: The Sony ZV-1 is marketed towards content creators and vloggers, but you can’t beat the image quality and video capability, given its compact size and features.
Best Adventure Camera: The GoPro Hero 11 is the most powerful GoPro yet featuring a larger image sensor that captures more of the scene with higher image quality, letting you instantly share vertical shots to social media. I can’t wait to try this new GoPro out on our next vacation.
Best Full Frame Camera: The Sony A7IV is an award-winning full-frame camera that I pair with a few different lenses, but 90% of the time I have pair it with the 24-70 F2.8 GM II for amazing photos and video.
Drone: I currently travel with a DJI Mavic Air 2, but the DJI Mini 3 or DJI Mini 3 Pro look a lot more enticing and easier to travel with.
Travel Wallet: I’m not too picky when it comes to a travel/passport wallet, but I do prefer a zip style wallet for storing passports, extra credit cards, cash and other important documents that I don’t need available readily and can store safely in my backpack.
Kids Entertainment: iPad Mini and kids wireless on-ear headphones from Belkin. We mainly just use this combination for long flights or down-time when out on the road.
Personal care: Hand sanitizer, sanitizing hand wipes, a face mask (we still wear one while flying), water bottle and travel size snacks for the kids. Also, packing cubes are a must for organizing your clothes and toiletries.
Travel Guidebooks: Lonely Planet travel books are some of my favorites that help provide travel inspiration, help plan your next adventure and discover new places to visit.
Travel Gift Card: If you’re waiting until the last minute, a gift card to a hotel brand or airline can make a great gift for someone who loves to travel and can use it to plan and book their next trip.
Some other great travel gift ideas include:
A travel journal or planner for someone who loves to document their adventures and plan future trips.
A luggage scale, which is a practical gift for anyone who travels frequently and wants to avoid overweight baggage fees.
A travel pillow can help make long flights or car rides a lot more comfortable.
I hope this travel inspired holiday gift guide can help spark some ideas if you’re in need of inspiration on what to get someone, as most of these items can make for great gifts this holiday season!
Happy shopping and happy travels!
